Regular Play and Events

Tuesday Play is open all primary and dual Nine Hole members.  Members sign up for a tee time on the Member Portal Colbalt system or by calling the pro shop.  Members wishing to participate in either Captains Trophy or sweeps must sign-up not later than Sunday afternoon.  Likewise, member are kindly requested to cancel not later than Sunday afternoon.  Members who do not cancel will be charged for the round.  To be eligible for sweeps, your completed and signed scorecard must be turned into the pro shop immediately following play.

Rules All play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and any local rules of The Villages Golf and Country Club.  Members are also expected to adhere to our club’s Code of Conduct listed under Club Documents. Any infraction of the USGA rules will disqualify the player.  Players with questions should consult the pro shop staff or our Rules Director.

Sweeps  Members participate in weekly stroke play on either the front or back nine holes.  Sweeps are awarded by flights using net scores.

No Sweeps are days when the pro shop does not provide assistance and no sweeps are awarded.  There are 6-9 of these per year.

Captain’s Trophy  On the first Tuesday of each month January-October, the low net winner on the front and back nine will be declared the Captain’s Trophy winners.  A playoff is held in November for the annual trophy.

 Exchange Days  Clubs exchange play days with other clubs in the area.  Registration is 3-4 week in advance.  The host club determines the number of players, the entry fee and the format.  Exchange Days typically include breakfast, lunch and sweeps.

Electic  Scores for rounds played January through October.  Players try to improve their score on each hole throughout the season.  Winners are determined by net scores, by flight.

 Club Challenge  This a two-day event held in the summer.  Members who have played not less that 20 games in the previous two years are eligible to compete.  The Club Challenge Champion is the player with the lowest total gross scores.

Twilight Events  Five Friday evenings, May thru September, are set aside for Villagers to play nine holes of golf and then gather for dinner in the Clubhouse.  These fun casual tournaments are open to men and women with a ghin number and a handicap.  Foursomes can be any combination of men and women players.  Guests are also welcome.  Register by calling the pro shop.
