Information for Prospective Members

Welcome to the Villages Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Club. We hope you will enjoy playing golf with our fun group on our beautiful, senior-friendly (yet challenging) golf course.

Once you have qualified as described below in Section 4, you may play with us on Tuesday morning or in any of our club-sponsored tournaments. You will also have the opportunity to play at other Bay Area golf courses through our exchange day and open day programs.

Orientation for Prospective New Members

  1. Ladies wishing to join the Villages Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Club should have the necessary equipment (golf clubs, shoes, balls, markers, etc.) and be familiar with the rules and etiquette of golf.
  2. Any woman with an established 18-hole GHIN handicap index may join our Nine Hole Club, but she must be able toplay to a maximum score of no more than 63 from the #2 tees.
  3. The Membership Chair will assign prospective members a Big Sister who will help you get acquainted with the club procedures, will answer questions on rules, etiquette, temporary handicaps, posting procedures, will introduce you to other club members.The Membership Chair or your Big Sister will arrange for a qualifier to play your first game with you.    You must play with a different qualifier for each game played.  A list of qualifers will be sent to you via email.
  4. To qualify, a player must play six nine-hole games from the Number 2 tees with a designated qualifier. She mustdemonstrate the ability to play nine holes on The Villages course in two and a half hours or less.  She must score nomore than 63 from the #2 tees for three of the six games with a designated qualifier. One game must be played on aTuesday during regular club play but the other games may be played any day of the week.  The front and the backnine holes must be played at least once during the three month qualifying period.  Once a player qualifies and has paidher dues, she will be issued an18-hole GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) number and is responsible forthe posting of subsequent games.
  5. After you have successfully completed your six qualifying games, the Membership Chair will contact you regarding club dues. In addition to the annual dues, there is a one-time $10 fee for new NCGA members. There is also a one-time charge for a name badge. All charges are payable by check made out to the Villages Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Club and given to the Membership Chair. After the initial charge, the annual dues will be charged to your house account.
  6. An initial handicap index will be established after 54 holes have been played. The six qualifying rounds will satisfy this requirement. Once you receive your temporary handicap, you may participate in Tuesday play day sweeps and tournaments. You may also play in Exchange Days and Open Days at other clubs. A permanenthandicap is established after 144 holes have been played (16 each 9-hole rounds or eight each 18-hole rounds).
  7. Once you receive your GHIN number you will need to post your scores each time you play a round of golf. Tuesday play day scores will be entered for you by the pro shop staff but play on other days or at other courses must be posted by the member.
